Linux Administration II — Linux as a Network Client
This course provides the knowledge necessary to configure and operate a Linux workstation as part of a (pre-existing) local area network. Besides an introduction to the fundamentals of TCP/IP and Linux network configuration it emphasises troubleshooting, system logging, and service management. Important topics like system time management, printing, and network services such as the secure shell, cryptography using GnuPG, and Linux security round off the presentation.
This course is aimed at Linux administrators with some experience and presumes knowledge roughly like that required for the LPI-101 exam. This includes solid handling of the shell, a text editor, and basic Linux commands as well as Linux system administration basics. In addition, this manual builds on Advanced Linux.
